Truly free range, pasture raised and organic
At Shakespeare Hills, our hens are truly free range. They are free to roam the pastures, scratch and peck and have mobile coops for laying eggs, and as shelter from the elements. The mobile coops are moved daily to encourage our hens to explore new areas of the pasture.
We farm following regenerative organic practices. Our hens share the pastures with our organic dairy herd. No herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are used. Our hens feed on grass and other plants, bugs and seeds they have foraged in the pasture. Their diet is supplemented by non GMO grains.
Exciting news! We are currently in the process of transforming all our hens to certified organic non GMO feeds for their supplementary feed. This means that soon all of our eggs will be certified organic as well as truly free range.
